2025 MotoGP Discussion Thread *SPOILERS*

Old news I guess but Toprac is moving to Pramac Yamaha next season. Transition from WSB to GP never seems to go as well as coming up thru the GP series. We’ll see
Hard to draw any conclusions since the numbers are considerably different from those transitioning from WSB vs coming up through GP. The fact is not many coming up through the GP series are particularly successful either. There just aren't many that have the success of a Valentino Rossi or Mark Marquez etc.

He's (Toprak) pretty impressive, so if anyone can do it maybe he can. Won't be easy.

I would watch WSBK, but I wouldn't know where to look.

It’s carried by MAV TV channel on Verizon Fios.

I’ve been trying to think of a former WSB rider who did well in GP. Had to go looking to find this: https://www.the-race.com/motogp/top-six-world-superbike-to-motogp-converts/#

Rossi has been successful developing young riders with GP level skills in the dirt.

Seems more like GP riders have better success going down to WSBK.
Well, the traffic does flow more in that direction.
Toprak is a special talent. No one on a BMW is anywhere near him in WSBK.
With the new MotoGP rules package in 2027 it could make for an exciting year and ,hopefully, better, closer racing.

The GP was entertaining. The sprint was a snooze to watch. Bagnaia had tons of issues in both races. Aldegure’s late charge was impressive. Aprillia looked storng, Yamaha couldn’t have done worse.

Red Bull Ring has never been a good track for anyone but Ducati due to the extreme stop n go nature of the thing.

this season has been a snooze fest. MotoGP would be better without MM in it - we would have a nearly 3 way battle for the Title going if he was not in it.

Instead the championship is pretty much wrapped up at the summer break.... Horrible.

Most fans (non MM) would like a closer contest at the top, myself included. I don’t think many true sports enthusiast (any sport) would be in favor of weeding out the best to make it so.

Was it WSB that use to have the winner of first race start further down the field for the second race?

Yes, and that was a silly rule to me, although it did make for some artificially exciting charges through the field. Let the chips fall where they may but don't punish superiority.

I'm an MM fan, but more a fan of the sport in general, and would like to see closer racing.

The best part of Today's Race was seeing Jorge Martin move up the pack and look more comfortable on the Aprilla. If he can get into a groove he can fight MM for the top. Bez has ben great at leading races - but he is just missing that little edge that MM has to keep the pace up the entire race.

Jorge is great and it was good to see him do well this weekend after his struggles and injuries. He is nowhere near MM. Never will be, but I hope he gets close. His best lap was .4 second slower than Marc's.
Marc is a generational talent, maybe the best ever. It's okay to give him credit for his excellence because he deserves it. He was well clear of the field this weekend at a bad track that should not be on the calendar.

I don't want to see Marc Hurt - but unless the other riders are willing to shut the door on him and take away his line they are never gonna push him into seeing red and making a mistake. He can put it on cruise control soon and coast to a championship.
I thought Quartararo must have read your post during the sprint. Alex had a good day minus the crash from the lead in the sprint.

Fabio was just giving it back to Marc like Marc was giving it to him.

Great job by Alex for the win.
Smart ride by Marc.
Exciting ride by Bastianini for third.
