24000 miles in the manual. I check it every so often though because Texas is do dang dusty!

Checked my BMC filter the other day and after 6k miles it still looked practically new...

It needs to be replaced sooner than is written in manuals... 40.000km.
Here is (even over lightning exposed) picture of filter at 20.000km.
and here a new one:
if you simply compare them.. it looks like dirty is still OK:

I clean my BMC filter with compressed air when-ever I change the oil (5000 km). I wash and re-oil the filter every 2nd oil change (10 000 km). Over kill, maybe.
