So I haven't been feeling to good lately. :frown: Sinus infection, theWolf getting frisky, etc hasn't had me feeling the best. With pollen giving everything in GA the spring green hue, I decided to take Poor Pedro (Poor because the Ex wrecked it and the damn thing just doesn't seem the same) and get some air rather than laying about the house waiting to feel better.

I ended up at Brandsmart to get a new mouse (my ex took the one Lexxi chewed) and came home with this too

(or something like it) because they had them near the checkout for a very reasonable price. I've been hanging out on the rcgroups forum learning about the flight controllers to see if I could use one to control the gyro cam (I can...details in another post). I figured why the hell not?

I had about two weeks before I put my little hd cam on it. One of the reasons I like cheap cams is so I can do stupid stuff with them, here's a good example.

The heli is 12". Putting that cam on it was a bad idea. Broke the heli, broke the cam. So I go back to brandsmart to see if they would exchange it under warranty and got the manufacturers number instead. A call to them, a few forms later, and a new tail is on the way. In the meantime, I got the "I think I can fly bug" so I bought another heli, this one a little bigger so that when I put my cam on it would fly easier.

I lost the hd720p cam in the bushes so I put on of my old cams on it.

I'd really love to use this to video a motorcycle riding by but now I know that ain't a good idea. The wind will take the thing and only it will know where it is. Before I lost the cam, I got the thing stuck in the tree (twice) because of wind gusts.

I haven't spent more than $120 on helis yet. But I have a quadcopter in mind that I want to build so...well you get the idea.

Anyway, I'm gonna suck it up and ride this weekend: F U Pollen.

Ohhhh - I have had the R/C bug bad for the past 5 years. I fly anything from slow flyers to full blown home-built UAVs (GPS, Return To Home, Auto Pilot, Remote Video Piloting @ 20 Mile Range).

Here is a video from last summer in West Virginia at New River Gorge. Keep in mind this flight was flown with Video Goggles, Heads Up Display from about a 2mile distance :P Filmed with a Hero2, and flown with a Sony CCD camera transmitting image to my Carl Zeiss Cinemizer Video Goggles.

I love all things RC, I have boats, cars, helis and an RC bike (I have a man cave dedicated to all my RC stuff). It is an addiction. My favourites are the RC heli, jet boat and bike.

Here's a vid of the jetboat before I painted it.

I flew control line stuff when I was a kid and got a RC plane kit for high school grad. Flew that all summer before going to college and pretty much had no time for anything for a long, long time.....

Heard that familiar nitro engine noise about 5 - 6yrs ago in the park behind our house and went and watched - monster trucks. I don't know how many surface RCs I have - quit counting at 30, but have a wide range from 1/5th scale Baja 5SC 30cc gasoline engined, 30lb MT to way smaller electric 1/18ths. Some are highly modified and some are stone stock - part of the fun is the wrenching and modifying.

Getting re-started in flying, I started with a Blade MCX heli, then a CX2 and went on to a bigger Blade 450 - what a transition from a coax! I had a HobbyKing 450 clone and an older Align Trex 450SE - all run with Futaba 7C 2.4 setup. I was just getting decent when my consulting business took off - I had not had any work for 18+ months and now it seems I can't seem to get a break for anything. Long enough that I sold off all but the Blade 450 since the helis had a chunk of change tied up and I couldn't stand just watching them sit. Its not an inexpensive hobby it seems, lol!

Plan to get back into them when I actually do finally retire.....

I'm grounded!

:ugh:

Rather than waste more gas driving back to Brandsmart to exchange it, I called the manufacturer and placed a parts order. It seems the parts are free for the next year. They shouldn't've told me that :smoking:

(Sorry about the "hat cam". It was a last minute poorly executed design.)

Lost Cam found!

I was out in the yard today doing some tidying when I found the cam at the edge of the flower bed. No doubt recent rains probably moved it there. Here is the "lost footage" of the crash that caused the cam's 16 day disappearance:

On another note, parts to repair the HK-26 should arrive tomorrow. I'm hoping that 24 hours from this post, I'll be flying again :D
