Blowing out stock air filter

Will blowing out the air filter add life to it? I do it with my cars and get lots of dust out of them. They seem easy to remove.

Sactown2008 the OEM paper filter is designed as a replacement item. It is not recommended to try a clean it with compressed air as this can damage the filter (including damage you can't see with the naked eye) and allow dirt into the engine. A new filter is cheap insurance for your engine.

If you want a reusable filter buy one that is specifically designed for that e.g. K&N.

Per Yamaha service manual you can clean the filter with compressed air with no problem unless its excessively dirty.
