Clutch cable adjust knob. How far shld it stick out?

I've just noticed this on my clutch cable adjust knob. seems like its sticking out a bit too much. Clutch feels just right at this position.

Is this normal?

Does clutch cable stretch over time?? I've done about 17000km.

Yes cables stretch which is why you have a cable adjuster.

Yours looks like it needs to be refixed at the engine clutch lever.

Yes agree with OldBiker, out to far also make sure you have some freeplay in the clutch lever or you will do damage to the C/plates

I'll third that. Lube up the cable while you're at it and it'll feel good as new

I thought I'd update where I got up to, just incase someone else is having the same issue.
Short answer is YES I fixed it.

the long version is I took your advices literally and actually un-did the bolt right by the engine (marked red arrow). There wasn't enough room for the tool without taking the radiator hose off but I didn't want to do that because I just had them flushed and didnt have the coolant handy. so it was a bit of a nightmare trying to tighten it back up but some how I managed. The adjuster actually was in the middle of the cable (marked green arrow).
So unless you want to replace the cable do NOT undo the bolt marked red, they have got nothing to do with adjusting the length.
