So Ive posted on this before, it drives me nuts. The throttle tube housing has more empty space than on my old ninja and the left to right motion is just annoying... so, i've located the source and now I want it gone. Has anybody reduced their throttle play? now again, i'm talking left to right, so if anyone replies with adjusting the throttle cables im going to explode. I have an R6 throttle tube, but the cam width is the same so this does not change anything. Now all throttle tubes have a nylon washer in between the grip and housing, I tried shoving that in there but it made the cam so tight it didn't turn.
I have a few ideas... get a thinner nylon washer and load the cam housing up with a lubricant. OR maybe use a smaller diameter washer around the tube; in essence, less friction, but also reduced play.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. I'm sure i'm not the only one who this bothers ;)

How much play are we talking about here? There has to be some so it doesn't bind, as you have already found out.
Definitely try a thinner nylon washer, if you can find one or maybe make one up.

Im thinking about maybe a material such as Teflon... I want to keep minimal friction. Also i cannot foresee a problem with putting a fair amount of grease in there for lubrication, it seems like that should be something that should be lubed up every now and again. The play is only a couple of millimeters or so. but again, my ninja 636 had next to NO movement.

The only reason this bothers me is because it cause my glove to bunch up on me :) i know i'm being picky here, but hey, why not

Id go with a plastic spacer in the above mentioned Teflon or a material going by tradename nylatron or nylon gsm. Polyamide family of materials. Its black and has a mottled look to it. It contains a lubricant. Very slick. Either of those will work, but Id avoid using grease as when you run your clearance tighter the grease may cause it to feel sticky. Measure your side play with feeler gauges until you have drag and then subtract .005" for clearance. Have a machinist friend make it for you. Also if you have to buy material nylatron is a fraction of the price. Btw the R6 tube works mint! Love it!

Grease is bad for throttles. I had a guy bring a scooter in that he greased the he** outta the throttle tube. That thing would hang wfo until you turned it back. Throttle tube shouldn't require lube. As most of you know lube exposed to the elements just makes for more dirt buildup.

Good suggestions everyone. I'm going to give that a shot. It seems though that the caves are lubed up pretty well inside of the housing, which was clear by me being covered in it after the throttle swap. I will try a smaller diameter washer first then see what happens
