Engine miss-fire

Hi guys,

My 2001 FZ1 has developped a miss-fire, it began a couple of weeks back as an intermittent problem but has developed to a constant. I have changed the plugs, and checked the **Ω of the leads, ok. Started it up and hooked up a timing light on each lead and all seem to be firing. Any thoughts?

Bad coil. Especially if you miss is in the 2500 to 5000 rpm range at partial throttle.

Good call Johnny. It's entirely possible that even though your reading "spark" at idle, a coil may be crapping out under "load".

Thanks guys, yeah doesn't seem to be at idle but as soon as I crack the throttle it comes on. I'll try warming it up and check the Ω over the coils!

Those coils have a history of going intermittent.

When was the last time the carbs were synchronized? Carbs being out of sync can give you the feeling of a misfire just off idle.
