I am looking to get a new bike that i can use as a daily rider. I had a cbr f3 that i rode almost every clear spring/summer/fall day and it was comfortable as shyt. I am a sport bike rider and ive been riding for years. I want another sport bike that 1000 cc and i came across the fz1 which i really liked the way it looked, looks like the r1 when it has the full faring.. the only thing i really dont like is the raised handle bars.

i would get one, i just want to find out if i can lower the handlebars to regular sport bike level. I know i can just get an R1 but the fz1 is much cheaper and insurance friendly

If you want a R1 but cheap buy a used 04 to 06 cheap. If you want a fantastic street bike that will do more than you can give it buy a FZ 1

It sounds to me like you want a sport bike but don't have the money for an R1. :) You can usually pick up a nice 2005 or 2006 GSX-R750 for pretty cheap these days and they're supposedly very comfy and that motor is pretty awesome, even if it's not a crossplane R1 motor.

While you can lower the bars on an FZ1 you are not going to get them as low as a pure sport without bumping in to the tank or body panels. .

What he said. Lots of folks have lowered the bars, but not to the degree of a pure sport bike. A fairly common lowering mod-I think-is using the risers from a Suzi SV 650 or the like. This will drop you down an inch.

I can afford an R1, its just that when you ride a motorcycle to work and back daily, the R1 is uncomfortable as shit... i have a buddy who has an r1 and i borrow his bike every now and then and i love the way it moves and that its flickable and light weight but the seat is made of cardboard, the suspension is stiff as shit and the handlebars are put you in that awkward race position. i have to drive about 30-40 miles daily and being in that position just sucks for an extended period of time.

thats why i had my f3 for so long. while my buddies here are hurting, it felt like i was riding a the cadalacs of sportbikes. I love the r1 but as a daily rider, its not my bike of choice.

AND NO I AM NOT GETTING THOSE HARLEYS WITHA COUCH FOR A SEAT LOL

I've got heli-bars on my Gen1, grips are even with top clamp. If adjusted correct they wont hit the tank or fairing. Dont know if the same is true on Gen2
