stock tooth count is:
17 front
45 rear
the easiest way to tell exactly what your current gearing is probably to just count the teeth on each sprocket...

i believe the other forum has a pretty in depth write up regarding the gearing/ possible gearing of the fz1.

just noticed its got a 49 tooth on the rear, havent checked front yet.

That's definitely not stock, as mentioned above stock is 17front and 45rear this would explain the short gear ration. I wonder what the front sprocket is.

+4 rear? probably has -1 front as well. if its a 520 conversion it's like losing a tooth on the rear on top of that.

must feel like riding a 600 with all those gear changes

I think he's probably referring to the weight savings from switching to a 520 chain.

Never felt the need to alter the gearing , I find it absolutely fine as stock ,, my advice would be to put it back as std

Dang that's very short gearing. I would go back to either stock or 16T front and 45 rear.

Wow, that's short! Gearing Commander says you'll be something like 1300 RPM higher at 80 MPH in 6th gear
