FZ1N Riders, need help

Hey guys, I am doing a retrofit for harrisch, and I need some info. What is the clearance behind the FZ1N housing to the frame? He has given me quite the task, and I want to be sure that it won't be in vain. Pictures with measurements will help!
 
Task given and challenge accepted :D, gotta say I've been loving how open and helpful this foul community is, looking forward to getting some good info.... Hopefully this results in a very bad*** looking bike
 
there is next to no clearance behind the housing to the frame bracket. I mean I had the wiring harness custom fit to tuck behind there and it is a tight fight with just a 3/4 (maybe only 1/2") to 1" thick bundle of wire. At first I had a really hard time getting all the wiring harness to bend just right so that the headlight aiming would work correctly.

The relays I tucked up into the little speedo cover and they are a pretty good fit there and able to shove extra wires up there.

Don't mind the pics of the bug guts, I've been lazy on cleaning, and saving it till Saturday after my big ride.

I would almost consider running your ballast from underneath the airbox cover and then just the wire to the back of the light assembly. Take pics so I can see how it's done later.
 
The problem is the projector sticking out the back of the housing. I guess we will try to keep it as tight as possible, and deal with the results later. At this point, still wondering if it is possible.

Yeah I have no idea how far the projector stocks out but there isn't much room back there beyond the grommet around the bulb
 
It will all fit without spacers. Have you had a look at the thread over on the other forum where the Motovation guys did this conversion? there is a heap of info in there.

If you need I can take some better pics of my Naked when I get home. Mine is a 2010 FZ1N from the factory. I've attached some pics of mine (phone pics), if there is anything specific you want to see, let me know and I'll get some using the camera.

good idea, but im wondering if this would cause extra vibration or anything like that - probably not if i were to use some sort of locking washer or grommet or something to dampen a bit...

it definitely does look tight back there... have you gotten the fx-r yet? im just wondering if youve eyed it next to the headlight, and how much space behind the headlight you think youd approximately need.


i ordered an extra harness, so as far as finding space for wiring and the ballasts goes i think ill be able to figure something out, i think the real issue is going to be making sure the projector and the connectors will fit...

which is an fz1n headlight with the fx-r retrofit like we are trying to do, but this is on an fz6 so im not sure how the clearances differ...
