Hi
Bizzare question i know , but any one know if the fz8 stock muffler would fit the fz1 , It just seems to look a bit nicer and not so bulky as the gen2 stocker ,
I was thinking of picking up a second hand one and giving it a go , any thoughts ?

It is hard to say, but my best guess would be no. If you can find one cheap enough I would say try it out. Honestly, you may be better off heading over to the FZ8 forum, and asking for some measurements...should be all you need. Distance between each pipe in the header should tell you if they will fit that way. Being that it is a smaller engine, I wouldn't think so. I would think that an R1 exhaust would fit on before I would think an FZ8 would fit.

**Edit** Just realized that you weren't talking about full exhaust... It may just work. If you got one cheap enough to try it out...it may be a new mod for everyone...

seems like there are a lot of parts common between the 2. Since you're only looking at the muffler, it may just fit. you'd need to check the exhaust mounting interface (pipe dia & position) and the footpeg mounting position are the same relative to each other.

Unless you absolutely need to have the stock exhaust a slip-on can be had for cheap (especially used) and will give you more power and less weight. You can't beat those two benefits ;)

You would have to modify the midpipe to get it to fit.

IMHO it looks more ugly than the FZ1 exhaust

As in the length ? I found a second hand one and the guy has measured the diameter witch is the same as the fz1 ,, this is only a thought as I have a remus power cone (think thats what its called) on a long trip its too noisey so im looking for something different I can swap over easily for the longer trips

It's about a 6 inch difference to where it mounts to the headers.
