gen1 clutch noise

i am getting a lot of noise from my clutch when i start from a stop in first gear. it doesnt seem to be slipping but i can hear it down below slapping around when i take of. i looked at my manual to see if it was as simple as adjusting my clutch lever and got it adjusted to what the manual says but nothing has changed except the friction point is at the very end of the lever. how do i get the friction point of the clutch to be towards the center of the lever pull? i have recently changed my oil and filter with syn so dont thing that is the problem, maybe weak clutch springs could be in order. thanks for any advice in advance!

Was the clutch a problem before the oil change?

yes but i changed the oil about 4 months(1500mi) ago and the problem just started last week. i have 22k on the bike and keep reading the clutch should still have a lot of life at that mileage so not sure. i hate being such a bad wrench! will probably run it by the shop on thursday and let a pro diagnose it. i keep reading new clutch springs are usually in order around that mileage so maybe that would be the fix, or when i adjusted the clutch lever i did it wrong, and knowing me its probably the latter?!

I'm interested to hear the outcome of this. I also have a loud clutch. It especially likes to make noise when warm when I let the clutch out in neutral. Makes a rattle type noise.

well, i feel really stupid but it ended up being a quick easy fix. i knew i had the clutch adjusted correctly, and the clutch felt fine, not slipping or dragging etc... so i had my buddy who wrenches on his bikes a lot come over to help me diagnose. it was chain slap, turns out that after my last long ride i had forgotten to clean and lube my chain. now it runs like a champ! i am going to put new clutch springs in soon as well as new chain and sprockets in the next few weeks and hopefully thats it for awhile now that the weather is nice!
