Going to a R1?

It doesnt take much $$$ to customize the FZ to your specs, relative to what you may lose in trade in/ sale.

Whats your main issue?
Pegs to seat to short? Get a taller saddle made. I have a Corbin that is 2 inches taller.

Bar position? Any number of bar choices and risers.

I had a stock corbin... hated it. Maybe with more padding it would be better. I hate the hump at the tank that pushes you away from the tank. I want to be on the tank.

Bar position - there are lots of options, but I want to be more forward on the bike, so no risers.

5'10" here as well, 175lbs. I like the stock seat, agree I love the way to pushes you to the tank. I actually wish the pegs were higher, I want my legs into the tank more. I have short legs, almost all torso. as stated im 5'10" and I wear a 30L in jeans...... and those are almost too long.

Ah.. I wonder if that's the problem. You must be more upright on the bike than I am. At 5' 10", my actual inseam is 34 (but pants are usually 32). So I probably have to bend forward more than you and my legs have more of a bend to them .. my knees naturally sit in tank indentations.

possibly..... maybe ill look into a pair of adjustable rearset's.

The wife has already given the thumbs up on the R1, she just wants the FZ1 for herself. It would be her first street bike. She is a good dirtbike rider, can keep up with me on the trails, just worry if the bike is a bit for her as a first bike. FZ1 is gentle in the low rpm range, and she fully understands a bike only goes as fast as you move the throttle. she has taken it around the block a few times and did well, but on the road is a totally different experience.

My concern would be the bike's weight. I get a lot of students in BRC with lots of dirt riding background. While they're typically best in class and never have issues with clutch control and shifting, they do exhibit some dirt riding habits which would not work great on the street, particularly on a heavy bike.

Same here. My knees hug the tank in just the right spot.
