I noticed the clutch cable on my FZ1n was on the way out. Half the strands at the lever end had sheared. Not very good as it has only done 6,000 miles.
Ordered a replacement cable through Fleabay. A TSX Hi Lex pattern one. Thought it couldn't lass less time than the Yamaha one had managed.
Bit of a twat changing the cable, as it was tank off & airbox off and a fiddle getting the cable off at the cluch end. (not quite sure if totally neccessary about the airbox but did make it a bit easier).
Took best part of 4 hours. The clutch lever action now seems very heavy. I seem to remember the action with the original cable was pretty heavy. You can only route the cable one way and I dont think it is dragging, but something seems wrong.
Anyone else got a heavy clutch action? Is it the pattern cable??

I find it odd that your clutch cable only lasted 6k. The clutch pull on the gen 2 is pretty light IMO. In fact when I shift quickly, I only use two fingers to pull the clutch in. Makes me think that perhaps you may have other issues that led to your early cable failure.

My 07 cable is at 48K. Something is wrong with your setup.

Your new cable sounds like its bound up from being mis routed.

Half the strands at the lever end had sheared.

That suggests that the "ball" end was dry and not pivoting. I apply anti seize to that part so that it turns without dragging.
