Is something missing?

I have a 2005 FZ1 that I purchased last July. Had another bike so this one saw little use and not a lot of attention from me. I'm now starting to ride after new tires, new windscreen, new this and that ....and today while cleaning some bugs noticed what looks to be a place where something was at one time. Since I haven't paid a great amount of time with this bike, I'm not sure if I shouold be concerned or not.

The mileage was 2600 when I bought the bike and is now about 4500. When I look into this "hole" it looks shinny and clean ...makes me wonder.

Anyone know if I should be concerned?
