Ok,
I was thinking about replacing my paper filter with a KnN air filter on my 03 Gen I.
Now I am hearing that I will need to rejet and sync my carbs because of the extra air my bike will be taking in.
Is this true?

NO.......it'll be fine......if u can, u should sync if never done before.....

What is it with this spacer thing? I don't need any spacer running my K&N.
I've heard good things about the BMC as well.

+1 on the BMC filter, I have used both.......K&N is about 1/4 inch shorter, so uses a foam seal......but still works without it Missy.....I never used the seal/spacer.
I now run BMC pods......made in Italy....same price, and u can use the same recharge kit.

I've seen them on eBay for same price as the k and n...you can try a independent cycle store like cycle gear, or what ever you have up in the great white north.
