leak in fuel pump seal

found that my fule pump is leaking from the seal it is the factory pump my bike has 6000 miles on it when i went to the yamaha dealer the told me there is no replace ment seals for it that i would have to replac ethe whole pump for 260 ,,,and that yahamah had changed the pump design from 2001 twice ...can any one tell me if knows of a company that makes the seals or a rebuil kit or something to replace seals with or am i just stuck buying a new pump

Haven't seen any seal kits for those pumps. They probably don't exist. It's a shame that you have to replace the whole pump because of a bad seal, but the OEM's are interested in selling the whole pump not seals. I can see their point though...sell the seals, they don't get installed correctly, still leaking pump now becomes a liability for them...

If you don't want to buy a new one, there is always eBay, but I don't know if that is a good idea or not considering that yours is leaking after only 6k miles.

All these guys have 100% or very close to that on their feedback. Check them out. It may be better to just buy one and replace yours than to go through all the "red tape" with dealers and Yamaha.
