Memories

I just received the May issue of Cycle World and as I was going through it I found the article on the 1984 900R GPZ or Ninja as it was known. I bought a brand new one as soon as they hit the showroom floor. It was a bike very similar to the FZ1 (only circa 1984). That was a period when the manufacturers were all moving the cc scale up to the 1100 and 1200 level. Along comes Kawasaki and out comes a 908 to compete on the street with much bigger machines as far as displacement went. It was also smaller and lighter. Next to the FZ, it was the best, and most fun bike I've owned and I regret the day I sold it. You do't see many any more because 25 years of tearing up the streets has also torn up most of the best. It was real fun to get a sucker on any 1100 or 1200 and get one to want to "test" you. All you would see is them in your mirrors. I expect the FZ1 will be remembered the same way. After only five months owning my FZ1, I won't be making the mistake of trading or selling this gem.
