Need advice for a West Coast trip

I have to work Monday, what time you planning on zipping through my area ? and want to be at the border by ?

To be honest, I don't really know. I haven't been going on a schedule or plan for the most part. I am staying in Yakima and will plan to leave some time after breakfast. If we can make it work, that would be great. :) I don't really care when I get to the border either

I'm relaxing in Susanville at the moment. Doug gave me directions but I got lost and opted to follow my GPS.

I have to say, Doug and his wife are great people and I can't thank them enough for hosting me and cooking a fantastic meal. Doug and his friend Tom gave me a taste of what their neck of the woods has to offer--those two can ride! I have never followed better people through nicer roads. Monitor Pass was the best part for me I think, but everything was amazing anyway.

Thanks again Doug :)

You got lost?

Dang kids these days and their fancy GPS, can't read a map. :poke:

Dustin, you cooked the steaks last night - Yum Yum!
It was our pleasure to share our home with you, my wife makes some killer desert-eh?
Tom and I had a blast riding with you even if you freaked out the cruiser guys on Monitor Pass.

Dustin is the one with more hair.
This was taken this morning at Bullards Bar Dam. It's so nice to see it full of water in June. We had a very fun and quiet morning riding up to the high country before sending Dustin north to Oregon. Are you here yet?

Just arrived in Klamath Falls. Even if I did get lost, the route I went was pretty cool and there was lots to see.

Thanks again, Doug :)

I think the next couple days I will just putter on Interstates. I'm about ready to go home

Dustin that looks great, not so nice up here. Very WET. Tomorrow is gona be a wet one to  I won't be on a bike till it dries up. How many miles have you logged on this trip ?

I just checked my records and it's about 2500 miles so far. I thought it was more but I guess not!

Hoping the rain stays away for Monday afternoon when I pass through Seattle

I'll pm you now for contact if you want. If it's dry I'll ride north with you and get some miles in but it's looking 50/50 and I don't ride in Wet. Call me a wussy but I like :shine:

Due to some dummy (me) screwing up my booking in Yakima, I opted to go home today instead. I put my head down and made good time as I cleared Oregon. I'm south of Seattle and should be home in four hours

What a day. How do I even summarise it? It started off well; nice breakfast at my hotel, sunny & warm and not a lot of traffic. I was cruising at a great pace thanks to Oregon's relaxed approach to speed enforcement (by the way Oregon, your state-wide 55 MPH speed limit is stupid). Par for the course as of late!

It was when I first stopped for a snack and fuel when things sort of started to go sour. I was considering cancelling my hotel in Yakima for the night and going straight home. Only considering. I called the hotel and they didn't even have my booking on their computers so I re-checked my booking record and noticed I screwed up and booked it a day too early--ooooooooops! It was at that point I decided to just go with plan B and make an early break for home.

I ripped it through Oregon in no time at all and kept the hammer down all the way to Seattle when I hit gridlock traffic. I spent about an hour and a half putting around until it finally cleared for a bit. At this point I had already done over 450 miles that day and was starting to get a bit sore--then the rain started and it came hard and fast. It was heavy rain and there was tons of spray so everyone slowed down and bunched up like morons. Half the cars on the road didn't even have their lights on so it was a challenge to even work out what was a car amongst the spray.

I kept the hammer down and worked my way through it for 200 agonising miles until I finally hit the border. There was an enormous wait so I opted to go to Burger King to sit it out. Keep in mind, at this point I am completely frozen and soaked from head to toe. After I drained a litre of water out of my boots, I ate some bullshit from Burger King and got in the stupid line.

An hour later, here I am at home!

Yay!

My GOD Man, I'm glad you made it. That no lights on has been a Bitch of mine for ever in this state. People are not thinking Safety at all in my book. We went through Seattle heading North, about 7:20 and could see BLACK and new it was ugly. It was and still is. heavy rain over night and still going on. Glad you made it home safe. Now don't catch a cold..
