no color code

So my 07 FZ1 which i just bought over a month ago is black, and I hate black but that what they had and i wanted it. Now I'm looking in to having it repainted to Vivid Orange like the 09 R6. After doing some research I guess Yamaha doesn't list their color code like most do with cars, some place called color rite/lite I forgot, gets the closest match but at $179 per QT for the base as well as the paint. Any idea how much paint I'll need to repaint my bike?
 
Fazer1sniper would be a good source on this forum to ask.....he is the resident painter to date.

I'm asking someone with over 40+yrs.....just waiting to hear back from them.

clarification----strictly the r6 orange or any other color to break it up?

No strictly the R6 Vivid Orange. I will have the FZ1 sticker thing re-created. That's just vinyl. Thanks. for looking into it for me

Sorry...should have read the question better.

It's been a long time since I have messed around with paint and I know a lot has changed in the last 10 years or so. A gallon was usually good for a full size car and given that our bikes have minimal fairings (unless you have the full fairing kit) I would say a quart would do it. However, you might not have much left over if you ever needed to repaint a panel.

At the most one quart, if even that. If you will be using base coat/clear coat, then perhaps just a pint of base color. The paint will go a long ways.

Guys - I need some help with paint.
Thanks for listing the paint matching. That thing is awesome. Now I have to decide how much I need. I just bought some Corbin Beetle Bags in the fast blue. Unfortunately - I do not have a blue motorcycle :D
How much paint would it take to paint these two bags? I understand we are guessing so please feel free to estimate.

Are the bags blue all the way around? Or is the side against the bike some sort of matte plastic?

Just from the hip, 250.00. Might be able to save some money if you find out what needs to be done to prep the bags ready for paint.

Recalling, Skunk? Maybe 50.00-100 bucks more if you try some sort of two tone.

Yes - They are blue all the way around.
I am going to try to sand them down and put a couple of coats on them and then some clear. LOL You also read my mind about the two tone paint scheme. I think I'm going to do the silver as a base and paint the lid of the bags black. That will kind of keep it in line with the paint of the motorcycle.

I added up the prices and it's pretty steep. By the time it's all over - probably $200 t0 $250 doing it myself. I doubt it would be cheaper with a painter because almost all of that is in supplies.

That is what I was thinking.
I don't know if a can of spray paint will be enough. If it is - it will cut the price in half. IDK. When I get them in my hands - I think I will get a better idea of what it will take.

I'm not sure a single spray can will be enough, but it should be close. An easy test would be to use a spray primer and see how much is left after you have primed both Beetle Bags...
