Well got out for a ride last week and noticed some oil under my GEN1. It was coming from behind the countershaft sprocket. I took it apart and found that it was leaking from the gasket under the cover for the shifter shift? I ordered one from Yamaha and it was an easy fix. While I was at it I did an antifreeze flush and new antifreeze.
That's just another thing that I like about the GEN1. It's so easy to work on.
Just a little curious why it would start leaking from there after all these years? The gasket did come apart when I separated the cover from the bike, maybe it just dried out? The new gasket looked like it had an aluminum color to it unlike the black one it replaced? Maybe an upgrade from Yamaha?
