Scorpion EXO-900 comm port

Hi, I just bought the Scorpion exo-900, there is a little trap door on the left side, apparently used for cummunication access, how do I use it, just take the little door off and put comm unit over hole? Looking at getting the Midland BT2, has anyone used this?
