The first time was in 03 when I survived them with nothing but Teylonol and oatmeal baths. This time I got a more compassionate doctor and a script. It's not nearly as bad as before but it's still shingles.

One thing you definitely shouldn't do is finish installing your chain just because the sprocket arrived. I got light headed and woozy. It took three days to do 30 minutes of work when I'm well. At least I feel better when I look at it each time I go out with the dawgs.

I have great nurses though.

I had to stop reading "Sport Riding Techniques" because it makes me want to go try what I've just read.

New chain just adds to the torture.

Having lupus makes me more susceptible to the shingles. It's a live vaccine so I can't take the shot either. The meds seem to be working despite my stupidity.

Get well. Sorry to hear you're sick. Shingles is hard to deal with. I'm glad it's not as bad as last time.

I love the chain. That's what I want when I need a new one.

Shingles suck. I hope you're better soon, and thanks for not sharing THOSE pictures. I much prefer the new chain. I'll take pics from your first ride with the new chain!

I was expecting a roofing thread  Wonder whats worse...... carrying bundles of shingles up a ladder or having a bad case of them ??? :) Either way I'm wishing you a speedy recovery.

I get that having lupus makes your immune system a bit weaker and you said you couldn't do the shot, but is shingles something that could have been prevented? :dontknow:

Either way Patrice, I hope you feel better soon and +1 on the chain, it looks great

There's an annual shot just like for the flu. I take meds to suppress my immune system (cellcept) to tame the lupus but that means I can't take vaccines that use the live stuff so no shingles shot for me.

I've been sleeping in my hammock because it's much more comfortable than the bed: no pressure points. it's an outdoor bride style one so it takes up a lot of space inside. I think I'm going to get a nicuagrian one and make another stand. here's what I'm in now:

That looks like fun! Camping with the ammenities and comfort of your own home!
Except you'd freeze your tookus off here in Colorado tonight...supposed to get something yucky coming in.....a 40degree drop in temps :(

Glad I went for a ride today ;)

I don't think I like you any more. I wanna ride! I might see if I can go around the block.

I made a mess fitting the hammock in the house. it's a lot lower than pictured so I get doggie kisses and can feel them under the hammock. But not adding to shingles pain.

around here the "dogey kisses" could be the yots tasting you. :(

shingles are no fun. my dad had them it sucked. get well soon.

This is the first time I've been on the computer in a week or so! My best day too. My shingles rash is crusty and now I'm getting the stabbing pains indicative of moving into the final stage. Meds are working pretty good! Spent some quality time in the kitchen making my version of curry chicken.

If I feel as good tomorrow, I'm definitely going to try to ride up the street and back a few times.
