Hello fellow forum members!! Wanted to pick at anybody mind about what size of bulbs the gauge cluster uses?? The back light on my fuel gauge has never worked since I bought the bike, finally getting around to changing it. Btw 2001 Gen 1 bike. Couldn't seem to find any information online. Once I figure what bulbs go in I'll change all of them while inside the cluster.

Hopefully there’s enough info in the part nomenclature or just order from Part Shark. It’s usually $10 for shipping so make sure you order all the Gen 1 stuff you need.

Some owners use to use super bright LED equivalents as an upgrade, it’s a lot brighter so might be a distraction at night.

I had 2 bulbs go out on my 2003 gauges and opted for the LED replacements for all the bulbs while I had it apart. I prefer the brighter cluster and for ME, it's not any issues at night.
Only hiccup was the brighter green neutral indicator flash when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Borderline annoying for my brain so I took the LED out and put a stock bulb back in there.

I have an LED “Geezer” light mounted on a strip of aluminum above my instruments. It has a single super bright green LED that blinks in unison with my turn signals (either direction).

The moderator on FZ1OA (Desmo) was the first I had seen with one decades ago. It completely solved my bad habit of forgetting to cancel. In my defense the OEM indicator lights on the dash are at a hard angle to see. I’m sure adding bright leds in dash would help. If some young punk asks me what it is I just say it’s a speed shift light.

The only design flaw is that the green light is so bright it blinds me a night if I use a signal. Perfect for daylight.

Isleoman, what does that look like? Do you have any pictures? I'm fairly new to the FZ1 world. Bought my FZ last June for cheap but is in need of some love.

Just a simple 3/8" wide strip of aluminum in the shape of the letter J. Attaches to the bolt that holds the gauge cluster behind the tach. One wire to ground and one wire to the hot of each turn signal (3 total). The pic is the original one I had with small led. The second one I made has a led that's twice as big/bright.

The comment I usually get when discussing the "Geezer" signal reminder is "I just remember to not forget to turn them off." Another obvious piece of advice is "Buy low, sell high". My 1982 Suzuki has self canceling, go figure.

I wrapped the original with black tape, I think I used shrink wrap tubing on the newer one so no wires are exposed.

Oh yea, you need two resistors (for one way current direction) on the hot wires. Only a few dollars worth of parts.
