speedometers off

ok im about to sound really dumb, but what are sprockets, im soooo sorry

The round shiny thing with teeth that the drive chain meshes with, there is a smaller, second one under a cover at the other end. The chain transmits the power from the engine to the rear wheel in conjunction with the two sprockets.

It's my understanding that the speedo is off by about 10% on the stock FZ1. It is a little annoying. There is an item called a speedo healer (I think), that you can install, but I just do the math in my head when riding. :)

The reason I ask is because--and correct me if I'm wrong, all FZ1s have their speed sensors from the front sprocket. 50 mph when your bike is displaying 60 mph is nearly a 20% differential and that's a lot more than you should be seeing.

If you had a sprocket change, this might account for that.
