will it run with the choke pulled, do the GEN2 bikes even have a choke option?
If you start it up and hold a gentle throttle will it run?

There's no choke on gen2.if you start it with slight revs it revs up then dies.

when were the plugs last changed? Have you looked up those codes?

Plugs changed 500 miles ago. Fault codes say camshaft sensor fault.i have swapped it but hasn't changed anything still code and still can't remove fault code

Sounds like that ECU needs to be reset to clear the code. I bet that fault code is stopping the engine form running.

It does start but doesn't run.iy think you might be right.its find how to do it or who does it.

yea, my thought it the bike starts but the fault code shuts it down in an effort to not cause harm to the engine.

Have you disconnected the battery? Wait a couple minutes and reconnect. Not sure it would help but it’s a free test.

Yeah I've done that.ive seen it that you have to disconnect ECU from bike to clear this code.not sure how true it is

Just to throw a spanner in the works , although the gen 2 doesn't have a choke as such it does however have a cold start device,(auxiliary air valve) operated via a wax stat , the plungers seize on them causing a starting issue as you describe, location is in the centre of the throttle bodies and has two small coolant hoses attached, can be easily removed and cleaned

Thanks .it's the ECU thats knackered apparently.it has a fault on one of circuit boards.

That can differently cause your problems. Do you think it could be a hardware or firmware? Send the ECU to Ivan I’m sure he could help you. Great guy to work with.

Quick up date .bought an ecu had it reset put it on used red to link it up same problem starts but won't keep running or rev up.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but did you ever get this sorted out? I'm having a very similar issue.
Bike wants to start, you can hear it beginning to fire but it won't start without throttle held open slightly. Without holding throttle open the bike will die.
It also spits out heaps of fuel when starting with the throttle open, even when revs held around 1k as to mimic the idle.
This has been driving me crazy for the past week, I was going to start a new thread but thought I'd ask here first in case you solved it.
I'm also running a 2006 GEN II so I will be checking the thermowax thing next.

Hiya I renewed alsorts no nothing changed .I changed starter relay n it started as normal and been ok ever since.

I'll give the starter relay a look over too.
From memory would you say yours was trying to start when you weren't giving it throttle? Or was it not trying to start at all until you did?

It was doing exactly same as yours.starting with throttle then dying.
