Teach me about two-up

Gear acquired! Tomorrow we take our first ride together! I hope I'm a capable pilot for the precious cargo :)

Photos will go up in my photography thread later. I think we'll hit up the Starbucks in Squamish, that's the local biker hangout here in Vancouver, similar to The Rock Store down in LA. On a busy Sunday, hundreds of bikes might come and go from there. It's also our only good local road

Home from a great day of fun together. I'm very lucky to an excellent passenger. The bike handled it quite well, I must say. The only thing I noticed was that my rear tire was looking a bit more 'grainy' on the shoulders than usual, perhaps from the extra weight of the passenger?

You're going to want to run a bit more tire pressure with a passenger as compared to solo and find a good suspension setting with the extra weight. The extra weight will put more heat in the tire. Higher pressure will help them run a bit cooler.
When both of you are ready make SURE to practice some panic braking and some quick evasive maneuvers.

I'm running 42 psi in the rear, would you suggest a little more for the passenger? The rear tire was certainly getting hotter than normal as I am typically pretty easy on my rear tires

The VFR only has preload and rebound in the rear. The sag is set for me and if I remember right, is two notches from max already. It definitely drops down with the passenger on board but I'm not too bothered about cranking up the preload to be honest. Turn in is understandably lazy but the bike is pretty well-mannered with her on board anyway.

I've noticed my suspension has been feeling a little tired since I returned from my Texas trip in April. Shuddery, bouncy and just generally flappy. I'm going to have my forks and shock serviced soon with fresh seals and oil up front and a rebuild at the rear. Just a little freshen up; that should help a bunch

Yeah, I'm probably at the max for the rear already. My experience is that most of the tires recommend 42 max and the manufacturer recommends the same for the rear. I'll probably leave it as-is.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, guys!
