HELP!
I have a 2003 FZ1 with 34,000 miles on it with a problem. I came out to the garage one morning and found an oil patch on the floor. I tracked it down to the counter-shaft oil seal (suck!!!) As far as I can tell in the repair manual the transmission needs to be split open just to get at that oil seal. Am I correct or can this seal be changed by simply removing the counter-shaft sprocket?
Also, if the transmission does need to be opened to change that oil seal, should I go ahead an replace the main bearings on that shaft?
I have all the parts (including the bearings) ordered so I should have them by next week.
Anyone ever done this job before? Any words of wisdom/caution?
Thanks,
Chip
