Hi all, Maybe I'm old but I can't find my fuel filter on my 08? Can't see it anywhere in service manual diagrams either. Someone steer me right, unless it is incorporated in the fuel pump? Thanks for any help.

Well given that the fuel pump is inside the tank the filter is just probably incorporated with it. I can't seem to find any reference to a gas filter when browsing the parts diagram for the tank or injectors.

I agree, seems too odd not to have a fuel filter, be it fuel injected or not. What is weird is under troubleshooting section (starting failures), it lists "clogged fuel filter". I also cannot find any fuel filters under OEM parts on-line. So tell me, how strange that a high end performance bike would have no fuel filter when my Briggs and Stratton lawn mower does? Never heard of such a thing. Not listed under periodic maintenance either. Something goofy here....

Makes sense but just seems odd that there is no replacement time or inspection for the pump then. Guess not an issue if no one seems to have heard of failures due to it being clogged, just so strange though thats theres no reference. At least I'm not nuts. lol

Just a quick add,
Hi, thought the same of where to find fuel filter, and after extensive dissembling of my bike, sourcing of a Yamaha manual....nothing..just , oddly mind you, the manual mentioning of "clogged fuel filter" with no diagrams (fuel system) to illustrate where it may be.
So i took the tank off and visually seen that the fuel line goes directly to the fuel rail, so this told me that it must be internal (fuel tank). After carefully taking the pump out, i could see the "bag styled filter" in the pump assembly, this, mind you, is all "clip locked" and the bag is in the middle. After removing, and reverse blowing into half a cup of petrol (make sure you have a beer chaser handy - yuk)the debris and dirt that came out amazed me, now my bike (at first i thought it may be ignition troubles) takes off at the lights a hell of alot smoother, without the "fuel starve" symptoms it had of coughing and spluttering .

I agree, Yamaha should have placed a replacement time (or cleaning)somewhere within the periodical maintenance schedule. Thanks for exploring. How many miles on your bike before the cleaning?

26000Kms , but in hindsight i should of done it earlier, with the performance difference massive, just be careful when handling, because the fuel float system that is attached is sensitive, and the wires and electrical connectors can be a little tricky to take off.
