Just wondering if any one has bought the plug in riding liners and if they work in keeping you warm.I'd like to keep riding as this summer ends but not sure if liners work.

They work. I use a heated vest and it's wonderful. Keeping your core temperature up keeps the rest of you warm so it makes winter tolerable without heated grips

I don't use the stuff, but instead use really good thermal wear and have heated grips. The suit I wear gets a little bulky with the wind / rain and thermal layers all zipped in (Revit - Cayenne suit) and it is something most pure-street riders won't want.

I do know lots of riders that use the Gerbing heated gear and swear by it. The only advise I was given is don't get a vest with a collar as it gets to bulky around the neck.

A ski tube or balaclava work well (sometimes together) to keep the cold from getting down into you jacket and freezing your neck.

I have even used the big Ski-Doo mitts (gauntlet style) when it gets really cold. They are a bit awkward at first but you learn to appreciate warm hands despite having to be more careful with the levers.

It is that season here now.

I have a nicad, rechargable battery jacket and gloves that I use, and they extend the riding season nicely. Waterproof is also pretty important in the Pacific Northwet...er west. I have friends with the plug in gear, and they all love it, Harley/Beemer/Sportbike riders all included in that mix.

I have the first gear jacket liner. But I also just bought the Olympia Phantom one piece with thermal liner a couple weeks back.... so far (high 30s, low 40s), I have not needed the heated liner. I can imagine with the suit and the liner, I could withstand lower temps than I would ride in because of other factors.

Black ice is a real thing... when I hit it in my car, I decided right then and there I would never take a bike out when temps dipped near 35ish.... even if I survive an intersection incident, the vehicles around me may not (and I'd rather be in a cage at that point).
