I did not put this here but I figure I will. Maybe some people will look, don't hurt to post it. Anyways I am just going to copy and paste my posts from the other forum. Once I get to the "Live" section I will just start updating as I go.
Alright guys, I am going to apologize right now for this post being all over the place. I just got basically a large pile of parts that when put together will build a 93 GSX-R 750. There are quite a few problems, and this is why I am only paying 400 bucks for the entire bike. I will not have pics of any of this for about a week, I am planning on picking the bike up from my friend sometime this week. He started out on this bike, and he decided to take it all apart to mess with the carbs and now it is just sitting in pieces. He bought an 08 Busa, and has not looked at this bike since. I figure if I can make her run, then I can make her look real pretty and bring her back to life and have some fun with it.
The good is it was a running bike and is complete for 400 bucks.
The bad is a list of shit and growing:
- Front right caliper is shot (He has a rebuild kit for it)
- Insane amount of crud on this thing, needs a MONSTER bath
- Tires are smoked (However I change my own and balance as well so that's a non issue)
- Paint is crap, was redone at some point and was done bad. I will have to spray it temporary primer or something.
Now here is my biggest problem. Apparently at some point he wanted to have something done at the dealer for the carbs, and they told him he has "600 carbs on a 750" motor... Now this is where I am very lost. So how can I tell if the carbs are indeed off of a 600, and what can I do about that? He has a brand new jet kit in the bag. Can I just jet them so they flow what the 750's should do stock? Is this impossible and they are the same things?
Anywhere to buy complete fairing kits for these things?
I have already found a service manual online and snagged that up. Just trying to prepare for bringing a poor girl back from the dead. She has been sitting for about 4 years now.
I know this is the FZ1 forum, but I posted this on the Gixxer forums already and I figured there are a lot of knowledgeable people here also so why not?
