Hi All,

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and my new to me 2006 FZ1. I bought this bike because I wanted something a little bit different. I have spent that last 110K miles riding my 2003 DL1000. My wife rides a 2006 Ninja 650. We both ride dirt as well. I hope you will enjoy the following photo's.

I picked up this 2006 FZ1 and started learning what handling is all about.

Different day - different group.

This photo was taken on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. I always thought the bridge should be painted gold.

We had a pretty good crowd this day.

The old and the new - my FZ1 and DL1000. The DL is a great touring motorcycle.

The wife, on her Ninja 650. Since I'm on the FZ now I don't have room to carry things, so I have her all loaded down. :)

What does she wear under her 'stitch? Pajama's, of course!

I'm using the same GPS on both of my streetbikes. It's on old Garmin 2610.

My fancy mount! Yes, I drilled through the wind screen. It works like a charm.

I'm just getting started with the FZ1 - I have put more than 3400 miles since I bought it last month. Anyway, that's a little about me. Right now I'm doing more reading than writing on this board. There is a lot of good information here. I'm really enjoying the less-political-nature of this FZ board. Thanks for reading this thread, and I hope to see you out on the road!

Welcome aboard. Looks like you've been doing a lot of riding on that FZ1 already. I've had mine for almost a year and you've already put more miles than me...lol. Anyway thanks for sharing those pics and ride safe.

Welcome Rick and congrats! It is great that your wife also rides too! I am in that fortunate group too! My wife rides the FZ6R.

Great pics and thanks for sharing them with us. Tell us about the mods that might have been done. What mods are you planning?

Your wife is pretty! She looks like a lot of fun to be with too.

Haha - well, I have to admit to riding a little more than usual right now. The FZ is just so much fun! If it was thinking it was going to have an easy life, it was mistaken. :)

It is great when you have things to do that you both enjoy. She likes dirt riding more than street riding right now. I go back and forth between them too. The FZ6R is a very good motorcycle, we have looked into that model too. It's always a problem selecting a model due to her 5'3" height. Every bike I buy for her has to be lowered.

My FZ1 came with Ivan's FCE, the Lars air box mod, AIS removal with block off plates and the CAT in the pipe was removed. Aside from a throttle lock, 12V plug and swing arm spools, it is stock. I don't really plan on doing any power adding things to the bike because the power is great and it handles well as-is. I'm having a little trouble getting used to the high foot pegs though. On long rides I have to stand up to stretch a lot, but I don't want to add lower foot pegs since I love the cornering clearance it has. I'm running a tank bag to carry my things, but miss having a trunk. I may have to add one at some point, but I'm trying to resist turning the bike into another V-Strom. Here is a better photo of my wife, Fenny. She is a great riding partner.

I know what you mean about her height. My wife is 5'2" with a 29" inseam. We had to lower the FZ6R for her. She can flatfoot it now.

Nice list of mods for your bike! There really isn't a whole lot more you need to do. The SW Motech racks and some cases maybe?

Great pic's. Looks like you found a bike fixed up real nice. Enjoy the forum there are a lot of nice and very helpfull folks on here.... I wish they would paint the bridge gold to that would be so cool!!

I hear you - her Ninja has been lowered 1 1/2 inches and we're running lower profile tires as well. We had top-out limiting spacers made for her KTM it was lowered 3" front and back. She's not flat foot on either of them.

I'm going to try and live without a trunk for a while longer, but the SW Motech products are really good. I'm really hoping to use the FZ for day rides and use the DL for the weekend rides. I was talked into doing an 1100 mile, 3 day ride on the FZ a couple of weekends ago though. It was tough riding at the end of day 2. We did almost 500 miles that day.
