Mixed Emotions

You're scared for your wife but teaching her habits like confronting a guy in a 4000lb car will just elevate your stress and increase her risks out there.

Cooler heads prevail. When I get in situations like that (especially with new riders following me), I just pull over and let them go by; problem solved.

Problem solved...kind of. It's a double edged sword, he is no longer YOUR problem, but he will be someone else's. Maybe someone you know. While I may agree to an extent with you, I also see what Johnny did as maybe a lesson that keeps that douche bag from doing something worse to someone else. Maybe.
I had a fat butt soccer mom in a mini van tail me at 70 mph the other day, I'm in the SLOW lane, following another car, and she is riding my butt. Clear fast lane for her to be in. Finally she passes after I slow WAY down and she flips ME off. I let it go because you just can't fix stupid.

I think you're giving these people too much credit. They're so self-absorbed, clueless and talentless that they'll never learn anything until it's too late. ;)

where as you didn't actually fight anyone, i think your course of action was fine. i agree with what missy was saying. it could very well have been that this person didn't understand the situation, and maybe they will approach a similar one in a different way now. then again maybe not. you can't be there babysitting them. bottom line, i think dustin's method works, but i think johnny's might too in a different way, but not for certain. either or may just be temporary answers to the real problem anyway. i like both arguments in some ways. A+'s for everyone.

It was a situation that I am not really accustom to. My emotions took over, had it not been my wife that was in danger I might of had a slightly cooler head. On a better note we rode 80 mile of backroads today with out incident. Her speed increased a little( it needed to ) and she was cornering nicely. Can't wait for the BT016's and muffler to show up.

Well after a month of riding, MSF basic and MSF advanced she is doing really well. She still won't ride without me even thou she handles the Hawk well. She has had a common driveway tip over. No damage other than a bent but fixable shift lever.

That is awesome and I'm glad to hear she is liking it! Having your S.O. riding their own bike is really a lot more fun for both. Give her time and she will venture out alone but be prepared because you'll be like the most worry-some person until she is safely back home. Been there!

Congrats for creating another rider!!!

we still have not seen pics of the Hawk.

I am hoping to get my wife interested in riding. I taught her how to ride a Dirt Bike back when we were first married, and right about the time we had to move and sell the bikes she was really getting good at it.

She claims she just wants to ride on the back of my bike for now, but secretly I know she is thinking about getting her own someday. 2 of my aunts ride, so she has some positive family pressure.

Damn! 3.60!!! We're still at $3.99.9! Now I'm pissed!

Nothing to bitch about dudes, I've been paying $5.50 for the last couple of years up here in Canada. That's on top of $1400 yearly insurance. Lol!

My wife is also thinking of taking up riding. 400 or 500 would be good for a bit longer. It seems that people outgrow 250 in the first month or two.
