Anyone from Austin??

Just about the only thing I can do is get a full exhaust system and gut the cat but I am happy with everything listed below.

I go to Austin on business about once a month. I usually cage it just because of the professional attire required at my office. However, next time I go I will take the bike and do over night so I can ride either Saturday or Sunday.

Been here since 1994.

After this summer I'm ready to leave. If I could only find a good paying job in back home in Denver...

You're Right, But.......

Not fair, you've got all those great roads ( three sisters etc.) right out your back door....

You're right but there's more to it. I'm just off Hwy 16 and I can hear the bikes riding by right at this moment.

The good news that is bad is that there is so much more good riding around here but everyone coming in, it seems, just does the Sisters. And they often do it "by the book" and miss a lot of what they could have done.

Elm Pass, Tarpley, Utopia, PR 37 and many more usually get overlooked. Too bad. You can avoid a lot of the Training-Wheel Traffic and enjoy the countryside if you just take a different route.

I'm on the North side of Austin, but I love exploring new places to ride. Just went thru Bee Cave, Wimberly on 12 the other day and looped over to Bastrop and up thru Taylor. I take a lot of farm roads, etc. when I can just to see where they go. (Yes, I am not familiar with those places you mention.....so I am definitely up for some of that). I'll check back in a couple days here (very busy next couple days) and see what's going on.

BTW, is that Recon in your name from military? Cool if so.

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the board, nevertheless I am not new to riding or Austin:) I live in south austin near the Y. I ride pretty much every weekend and also part of ASR here in Austin. We will be riding this sunday(day after tomorrow). Starting from IKEA. Anyone wanna join us?
I know the roads in and around austin well(I think:) If any of you are up for a ride any weekends, feel free to ping me.

Cheers

I'm going to be posting a report on Elm Pass Road and RR2828 to Medina in the next few days. That presents an opportunity to do some great riding even before the Sisters and presents an option to avoid heavily traveled and heavily enforced 337, on a better road.

Also, I have done a map analysis and and am planning a road recon that may open up a previously overlooked loop from Medina to Vanderpool/Lost Maples. That's still in the future as I have a heavy workload for the next few weeks but will do a recon and will post full details if if works out as I hope it will.

Hey I got excited about going out there...So, I went early last Saturday out to Fredericksburg, down 16 to Medina and 337 to the twisted sisters. Great riding and loved it! I noticed that Vanderpool/Lost Maples loop but didn't take it. Sounds like a definite option. I went out solo, but we should ride for sure. The more the better.
