Well, if you are doing the gasket swap with the carbs on the bike, I would be careful not to upset the float height. It may be just a simple gasket swap, however, if you are removing the carbs, then I would say to replace the O-rings as well since you have them off the bike and easily accessible.

That's strange. I've never heard of that issue. I have an 09' myself and haven't seen anything like that. Are there any error codes showing up on the dashboard?

I use a YTZ14S Yuasa battery in my 09'. I always use a tender and they last a really long while.

No problem at all. It's a pleasure to actually get some interaction on the board here as of late. Postings have been far and few between. Hopefully as Spring gets here we'll have more to talk about here on the board. I hope you get it sorted out.

Electrical issues are the worst problems you could have. I hope to God that you paid a good price for it since it can take a fair amount of troubleshooting to find the culprit. Did the previous owner tell you that the bike was running previously? I would start looking at fuses first and...

Now that everything is disconnected, I would install a fuse, and then plug in one item at a time. Maybe something is shorting out to ground. maybe you can single out one circuit that is the problem. I hate electrical issues! They are the worst to deal with.

I don't know about the GenI but I know for sure the GenII has been done successfully. I know that there is a thread here on the build. Look up our member Mr. Helmut He's the one who has done it and made himself a pretty wicked bike!

Welcome aboard Craig. I too, have the blue 09' and love it. Still haven't done the stator yet but this spring I'll take care of that a I'd like to replace the clutch with a new unit. I've put almost 20,000 miles on it and she still runs like a champ.
