Fz1 sounds better with earplugs... :(

Same here. Stock exhaust and always wear earplugs and a helmet. Call me crazy but I think my 2012 has one of the best, if not THE best, factory exhausts I've ever heard.

What did you do to your FZ today?

Tuesday: rode 387 miles to Rapid City for good riding in the Black Hills. Wednesday: rode I don't know how many miles through the Black Hills. Some of the most beautiful roads you will ever ride. Thursday: rode 387 miles back home. Three days in the saddle and my ass is killing me.

    Shifting Tips...

Update: I think I may have solved my problem! A little voice in the back of my head kept saying, "Oil, oil." When I got it home from the dealer I dropped the oil and ran Shell Rotella T dino. The other day I switched that out with Shell Rotella T6 full synthetic. The clunkiness and notchiness...

    Shifting Tips...

Because I don't want to spend the money and completely relearn how to shift. Took it to a local repair shop the other day as I thought there was a lot of noise coming from the clutch basket in neutral with the clutch out. They said it was normal. Guy took it for a short spin and he agreed...

    Shifting Tips...

Thought about that too. I don't really want to spend the money for Ivan's FCE.

    Shifting Tips...

Another update: when I got back Thursday night I lowered the shift lever even further. Went for a ride Friday and it seemed better. I really concentrated on my technique and I think it's a combination of two things. #1. Spending a year on a Harley has made me lazy/slow with my upshifts. I...

    Shifting Tips...

Did that already at 57 miles when I got it home from the dealer. I'm just hoping there's nothing wrong with it.

    Shifting Tips...

Update: adjusted the shift lever downward tonight and went for a ride. Doesn't seem to make any difference. Shifter is still very notchy and it feels like I really have to force it.

    Shifting Tips...

I'm familiar with preloading the shifter, which is what I do. Rode a bit today and it seems it's gotten a little better. I noticed that I was also preloading on downshifts which caused it not to reset on multiple downshifts (coming to a stop). Looks like I may need to lower that lever.

Mirror extenders I CAN SEE NOW !

After a short trip today, I retract my previous statement. I think I might have to get a set of these.

    Shifting Tips...

Anyone have any shifting tips? I'm having a heck of a time getting smooth upshifts. I'm not new to bikes but I DID just come from a Harley. Bike before that was an ER-6N so it's not my first naked/sport/metric bike. When I picked it up from the dealer on Wednesday, it did have what I...

    Your Rider Resume

My first bike was a 1994 Kawasaki Ninja 500 purchased in 1996 while I was in the Army in Hawaii. This was after only a few lessons in a parking lot on a fellow soldier's Honda Rebel 250 or something similar. I promptly wrecked a few months later but salvaged the bike and a buddy welded up an 87...

    Just Got It

I rerouted the lead to under the passenger seat, rather than coming out of the undertail. Makes more sense as I can just pop the seat to hook up a charger if I'm going to be gone for a while or during the winter. So far I'm liking the stock/dealer suspension setup. Yep! How did you guess...

    *****The Riding Game*****

South Dakota State University rodeo grounds. (Yes, that is a giant pile of shit.) Swiftel Center rodeo grounds. Yes, my town has two rodeo grounds, but it IS South Dakota. In the same vein, your bike and NON-TRADITIONAL (no cows, pigs, sheep, goats, etc.) livestock.
