Off the top of my head (I could be mistaken..), the 04-05's are 30mm odd shorter than your FZ1 forks, the '08's only about 15mm shorter and work better with the FZ1's geometry.

I believe the '09's bolt right in but they don't have full adjustment on each leg, its a similar setup to what your wanting to change. One leg is comp adjustment, the other leg has rebound adjustment.

Ive done this mod with '08 R1 forks. '08 R1 Forks £300 '08 R1 spindle £30 6 pot radial brakes (brand new 0 miles!) £150 R1 Radial M/C £80 Spacers instead of 310mm rotors £20 An easy modification, pretty much everything bolts right in.

The import taxes here are too much of a lottery, add on top of that the postage making buying from America far too expensive.

Not in Europe they're not, its why I took the spacer route...

You'll need a R1 axle and 4 caliper spacers so they fit the rotors but everything else fits.

I fitted '08 R1 forks, 6 pot radial brakes and radial M/C to my GenII. It all bolts straight in/on.

I went from a K1300R to the FZ1. The K made the FZ1 feel like a moped!

This mod never got followed up... Was it easy to do? Did it work as promised? I'm interested in doing this mod if its as simple as the GenI.
