All the Vids from 21 Feb 2010

I finally finished making and uploading videos on youtube. I used Kino software in Linux (Wolvix Distro) to edit the videos and I liked it better than Windows Movie Maker. So much so I got effects happy! Some of these are in the ride report but I was too lazy to edit to add these.

I'm working on that. It's the cheapie md80 knockoff they sell on ebay and doesn't have a tripod spot. I think I have a solution that I'll be testing as soon as I get it done. Thanks for the comments. There's also some post editing I can do to fix the bounciness but I'm still investigating that software.

Right now, I'm fighting a slow internet connection since I updated one of my linux distros. I gotta fix that first. I'll have better video soon though, I promise.

My knock off shoots 720p. A guy on the ADVrider site got the chewing gum one but had problems with it and ended up with this one. Mine supports up to 16g (according to the badly translated manual) but the battery life is only a couple of hours at the most.

there is a newer version to it, the md90 knockoff! I'm going to do a little surgery to it in hopes of solving my battery problem--probably caused by throwing it down the road a couple of times--and to tape the little mic.

I guessed all the ones that had the 720x480 30fps would basically have the same quality when I ordered the flashlight cam. So far that's true. The flashlight cam will be easier to mount on the bike, the md80/90 makes a better helmet cam.

If I replace the one I have now, I'd go for the one you posted.

I have this one:

I saw that then edited the link.

You have to look at the various stores, some say 16 and others 8. IIRC, the ones with the slider for off and on are 8 and the ones with the push button are 16. The largest card I have is 8 so it's really not an issue for me.

Besides, when you do the math of gb used per hour available, 8 gb is enough. The video we shot coming off of the cherohala was only around 775mb for about 15 minutes of video or around 3 gb for an hour. The camera's battery will run out before you can shoot 8gbs or 16gbs worth of video.

Got the MD91 knock off today. It did come with the cable, wall charger, clip holder, and pedastal mount.

I think I like it better than the MD80 already. It has two video modes like the MD80, the first is the 2:00 per movie mode called "sonic", the second is a regular movie mode. It also has a sound only mode and can take pictures.

The clip is a lot more secure than the MD80 one. On the MD80 clip, I accidently broke the tabs that hold the camera. The tab on the MD91 clip is a lot more sturdy.

Can't test it on the bike yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I do.
