Alternator Output

We have a great charging system on the FZ1. Norm runs heated gear and accessories on his without any troubles. I think you're safe.

Little test I did last summer in this thread running heated gloves, chaps and jacket liner.

Bike off tender for eight hours: 12.96 V

Bike at idle: 14.20 V

Bike at 5K: 14.20 V

I then wired all the heated gear together: jacket liner, gloves and chaps.

Bike at idle gear set to high: 13.79 V
med: 13.80 V
low: 13.83 V

Bike at 5K gear set to high: 13.79
med: 13.91
low: 13.99

So, even at idle with all the gear set to the highest setting the bike is dropping less than 1/2 Volt across the terminals and is should still be charging the battery.

wish there was way to wire up car type power outlet to charge cell phone/ipod and or a GPS, would be nice, i dont know if its possible or ever been done?

And here are some pics of the same outlet installed on a Gen II bike. The idea is the same...

Ha I didn't even realize this thread existed! I installed that exact same lighter output on my bike a couple weeks ago. I used the plate that came with it though as well as the socket.

:)
