That's the best spot in the house for natural light photos (and so you can't see how bad a house keeper I am). Yes it's a good fall but you get to land on carpet if you can miss the sofa and sofa table below. See how I had it pushed forward so that if it did fall it wouldn't be that far? That little half wall is a good spot to quietly observe what's going on downstairs too.
