ECUnleashed ECU Flash

This is great news! I wonder if Ed would be willing to give a group discount for a bunch of us this winter... let's see if we can get a 5 and/or 10 person rate? I'll come up with the coin somehow!

Thanks for being the pioneer Pete! I appreciate your effort and patience along the way to take this on and share your results. to you Top!

I would be onboard with this if its possible.

Think Ed would be interested in answering a few questions here on the forum?
May be a good idea for everyone to have all the info in one place and save Ed from hours on the phone answering the same questions over and over.

I have quite a few questions including :

1. What year bikes already have a flash ready to go now ?

2. How many different flashes are available for different bike setup or is it one generic flash ? I would think a bike with airbox mod and full exhaust would need a very different map than a stock bike or just a slip on.

3. Different options are available when you have the flash ?? Like whether or not you want a higher rev limiter or can you pick what gears you want the restrictions gone ? Drag racers may like first gear restricted to fight wheelies.

4. If different options are available are they selected from a menu when the flash is done ?? or does that mean a custom tune from Italy with a long wait ??

5. Once you have flashed the ecu can you still fine tune with a power commander and or ignition module ?? SOME ecu tuning just advances internal clocks. That MAY effect the power commanders ability to accurately tune. ( What I'm really asking is will the ECU still make the changes the power commander requests at the exact same throttle position and rpm ? )

6. They have different flashes for stock flies, smaller flies or no flies ?? ( flies are slang for the secondary throttle plates )

7. The flash changes when the flies open, close and the speed they open at ?? If so smaller flies or no flies may be a waste ?

8. If my bike runs worse or has a problem area with fueling after the flash, will a new flash to address the problem area or a flash to return to stock be free ??

These are just a few of the questions I have. I'm sure other people interested in going with ecu flashing have questions also.

I'll ask him. They are slammed until Monday. Some questions may require ECUnleashed to respond to.

Number 5 is yes.

Number 7, flies are properly controlled so no mod is needed.

They can tweak the tune as needed/requested. Unless there is another odd ball Ecu like mine, all ECUs have been accessed.

I wonder how many FZ1's they have flashed ?? Your the only person I've seen a review from online. Maybe Ed could contact the others and ask them to post a review here ?? Just making some suggestions that could be beneficial to everyone. The more information possible customers get the more likely we are to purchase the product.

Am I driving you crazy yet Pete ??? :stupidPC:

Thanks again !!
Chris

Chris - Ed said they are selling lots of flashes for a wide variety of bikes. I'm the first person who's actually brought the bike into the shop. Everyone else has mailed the ECU in. So far everyone has been very happy. One R1 crossplane guy remarked that his bike was totally different, in a much better way. He'd like more people to bring their bikes in so they can dyno them to build more data.

I've sent him an email asking him to join us.

Ed had told me me that they had done several FZ1's, one of which was in house. That must have been you Hellgate. Ed told me that he needed the list of mods done to the bike and that determined the flash "program". By that info I would say that no one reflash would fit all bikes. I have a 2Bros slip on, midpipe, and BMC filter. Just wondering if I should bust out the cat in the header and do the intake mode before I send my ECU to them. Maybe smaller flys too? I am also about to go to a 16T drive sprocket with a DRD corrector. Just glad to hear they got it so close on the reflash. Regardless, count me in on a group buy!

Here's some more independent feedback on the tune:

I was the "other rider". Yes, I ride more than just The Punisher.
It really does run a lot better with the "good" ecu, not just smoother and stronger off idle and through the middle, but faster too, spinning up the rear in third gear on the admittedly slippery streets of New Braunfels.
When I rode the bike each time on a short identical test circuit, I didn't know which ecu was in it, they were changed while I was elsewhere. I made notes of my impressions immediately after returning each time, and Ed compiled each rider's notes. It's not surprising we all picked the same ecu as the "good one", the difference was dramatic.

ApriliaForum sponsored by AF1 Racing, inc. - View Single Post - AF1 Racing is now an ECUNLEASHED tuning center

"The Punisher" is an Aprilia RSV, with a blower and runs methonal. It went 200.8 mph this weekend is and is the worlds fasted V twin Ape. In other words Lucky Dave knows bikes.

Some bikes may gain more than others. It remains to be seen on the dyno how much on the FZ1. Rider opinion is confirmed now.

So my opinion doesn't count??? Geez

Go back an read my post from Ed, there is not more to be gained with tuning, so if my bike was making 142 before (DynoJet numbers), is it making 142 now.

I should have dyno plots later this week.

Thanks. This is one thing I am concerned about. We can obviously benefit from more ignition timing advance, especially in the lower gears. But, how high are they going? They can run more on higher octane.
