Does anyone use this battery tender? I just got one cause the box said it was ok for gel type batterys, then the paper inside said:wtf: not to use it on a gel lead acid battery. Any ideas?

Yeah, Go bring back the H.F. unit and go by a Full Floating Automatic Charger from Pep Boys or Autozone. You can get them for less than 30 bucks and they are "plug and play". Plus they will tell you if the battery is bad for some reason and won't charge. Harbor Freight is good for certain things only. I wouldn't buy a charger from them. You need sometimes to go with "name brand" items when you want quality and compatibility. Deltona and Schumacher are good names to look for when getting a fully automatic charger.

I use the Optimate 4 from Tecmate. might be a little bit more expensive but is very good.
And offcourse is able to work with gel batteries

The optimate 4 is what I use and it works great! No problem with any bike battery. I also have an Optimate II that i still use on the old FZ 600 battery that is sitting on a shelf in the garage. It has worked great for 10 years.

I picked up Schumacker one at Autozone last year for $28. It's fully automatic with float-mode monitoring and works perfectly. Before that I had a similar model from Sears, which lasted about 15 years.

hey, I think you can still find the junior online for like 19 bucks. They work great.
