How many miles on your fz1??

Was disappointing for sure. The K1600 is 10K more at the start and even much more over the life of the bike it seems.
 
One of my best friends, a "pommie" who lives in Albany, Western Australia, has a year old Kawasaki SX1000 Ninja. Purchased it new last year in Perth, W.A. and really likes it. Can sport ride on it, tour on it, and he has the hard bags that he can attach or ride without.
I talk with him quite often, and he thinks its the perfect all-round bike to have. Lots of open land in W.A., so this bike works well for him.
Just thought I would throw this into the discussion of bikes, for sport-touring.

P.S. Mine you, I throw soft saddle bags on one of my gen.1's, with my MRA front windscreen, and one of my large tank bags, and I am good to go.
 
Yes, the Ninja 1000SX/1100SX and the Suzuki GSX1000 are nice bikes but in a lot of ways more comparable to the FZ1 than the FJR. Certainly they are classified as Sport Touring bikes and I thought about mentioning them but figured everyone knows about them.
 
Yep, that would work for me. A modern day gen.1, with cruise control, and other modern fitments.

All that being said, can one fit a center stand to this 1000SX? That is a must for me, on a long distance bike.

Around town, short distance riding, a Honda 1000 Hornet would do for me. If I had the disposable income. Which I do not. Lol!

Oh well, just have to keep riding the old tech gen.1's, I have. And ride I will, starting a week from this Thursday. Yet another thousand mile ride with the Santa Cruz lads into the Sierra's, and Lake Almador. At eighty and a half years old, gots to keep riding whilst I still can! Lol!

I haven't dug into it in great detail but my understanding is it isn't possible. That is kind of a deal breaker for me as chain maintenance on a trip or fixing a flat would be a pain.
 
Had breakfast with a pal today, that bought along his NT750 version, of that bike. He likes his 750, but is looking at that 1100.

He has that 750, along with two Ducati sport touring bikes. The Ducs are great looking bikes!

If he decides to purchase that 1100, one of the Ducs has to go, or his wife will inform him, that he has to go! Lol! Sometimes Kathy has no humor! Lol!

So, we shall see what Stan does.

It’s interesting. Cost effective. Has some cool technology that is actually growing on me (change or go home). Not the best looking bike in the world but heck. Its a sport touring bike, they will never look great. Plus that honda reliability. Seems like motorbikes are just adding rider aid and technology not necessarily creating cheap consumables like the car industry. Could be wrong, personal opinion. But always in the market for another bike even though I am not in the market for another bike.
 
My good friend has had finger/hand problems for years. His fingers do not look good.

He likes the auto part of the NT bikes. So we shall see.

He and some other Santa Cruz pals, went to the fortnight I.O.M. TT races, three years ago. Stan rented a NT750 in London, then rode the thing to Liverpool, then on to a ferry to Douglas, I.O.M., for the races. Back to the states, and last year, he obtained his NT750.

He would like more motor, and better suspension. He changed out the rear shock, but it could be better all around. The brakes are just okay.

Once again, we shall see.

Just received a e-mail from pal, Stan. Now he is looking at a electric bike! No shifting gears.

Apparently he has found a great deal on a used bike, still under warranty.

Who knows with these friends of mine, with money! Capable of doing just about anything! Lol!

I'll keep my two gen.1's.
