Skid Plate

At second look the header needs to move to one side or the other so it doesn't get smooched.

After a few seasons my Skid Plate looked like this:

It was pretty once.

This is a 1/4 inch thick aluminum piece that was powder coated. No dual-sport, especially a wet sump should venture off pavement without one. As pretty as that bike is, it wouldn't stay that way long if it put those tires to actual use. Hop up onto a fallen tree and power over it and see how shiny that header would be. A nice "scrambler" style pipe with the same can up under the tail section and a good skid plate, (not bolted to the engine case) and I'd give it a go.


In reality, lots of guys just ride on gravel or dirt roads from time to time and a simple roost guard over the header would suffice for that.
