Hi all,

Can someone tell me some symptoms of a kinked fuel line?

I recently messed about with the FCE and each time I tried to put the tank down it looks like it was kinking! There was nothing I could do to stop this.

Also the fuel line upgrade, what exactly do I need to buy? Measurements?

Also I'm a UK boy so UK links would be great ;) even better would be UK eBay links, I loooove eBay!

Thanks

Just did mine a while back, very easy to do. Read blindspot's thread, all the info there. Cost for me was about 20 us dollars. That fuel injection line was kinda pricey.

Yeah very easy to do... Just read the above thread but in a nut shell you will need to by EFI or FI line... You'll need 18 inchs or less... You'll need 2 hose clamps and that's it... should be able to get this stuff from an automotive store

What makes me think that it's linked is that while riding there is a strange noise which I think is coming from below the fuel tank.

The noise does seem to stop at certain revs which leads me to think that different pressures in the fuel line straighten it...?

It wouldn't be anything noise related. The fuel pump keeps a constant high pressure on the line that doesn't change. The injectors release the fuel at that pressure according to the ECU (or Power Commander / Juice Box).

The symptoms are unusual flat spots when demanding FULL fuel to all cylinders at WOT. ;)

My stock fuel line is fine, but since I have the tank off right now I think I'm going to go ahead and do this mod as preventive maintenance :)

Is it possible a kinked fuel line to cause idle instability?
I've noticed that when i start the engine the idle goes from 800 to 1200 rpm every second until the engine warms up. Then it becomes stable at approximately 1100rpm...
I think there is also a jerkiness at about 2500-3000rpm but i'm not really sure, maybe it's just in my mind.

Jumping idle is more likely caused by throttle body synchronization issues. However it could be also the thermowax unit if it is only during warm up. Fuel line would be at all rpms.
