Mixed Emotions

Wow! I thought a happy marriage was wanting to spend time with your wife?!? Wednesday, June 29th, will mark 20 years of marriage and I'd *STILL* rather come home to my wife and ride with her than anyone else in my circle of friends. She's not just my wife, she's my best friend. On Oct 30th of this year, we will have been together for 25 years total. I wish you all were blessed with the same wife/best friend.....

My marraige is very happy mate but I hate shopping and she hates motorcycles so we are both happy doing what we want for one day per week.
I wouldn't want the extra worry about her riding her own bike as I know how dangerous it is.

Funny because I really like shopping and Michele hates it. :D I think I've got the upper hand on ya though... you get that one day a week for riding? I can get her to go nearly every day of the week. ;) Yes, I worry about her on the bike but what she does with her life is her decision and I wouldn't be married if I was to forbid her from doing something she really wanted to do. I couldn't ever go skydiving but if she was to tell me she was going today, I cannot stop her.

Not saying either relationship is wrong or flawed mate... just saying what works for one couple will not work for the next. What is important is that it works at all! :woot: If we ever get to Oz, tell her I'll go shopping and Michele can ride with you for a day.

Well here's a update. This week my wife should have her license. We are both participating in the MSF basic riders program. I highly recommend it. Today I made a offer on a 1988 honda Hawk for 1100.00. I will know tommorow.

It's free, takes money off of my insurance, morel support and you never know what you can learn. Learned a few tricks to show new riders. It has been very informative.

why would you need the basic course when you have done keith code school and allthose trackdays?

Every few years, one should take the BRC. It is a great refresher and often will break bad habits you may have developed. Here in NH, if you want to take the intermediate and advanced courses, you have to pass the BRC first then take the next two levels in the same year.

I can tell you this one factoid: It won't do you any harm to take it again.

Even though I already had my license, I took it with my wife for support and encouragement. It's a darned good thing I did because on the third day, she got so frustrated that she wanted to park the bike and toss in the towel. She was having all sorts of issues with the figure 8 maneuver. So, I gave her a pep talk and told her this: You have EVERYTHING down-pat for this test except the figure-8. Go run the 8 and hit all the lines on the box, just DON'T put a foot down. You WILL pass the test. I told her that in real life, no one does this anyway! We all stop, back the bike up and turn the wheel and take off the other way. So, she did just that... hit ALL the lines! Aced the rest and has been enjoying riding since.

Do it with her and offer ONLY kind words and encouragement.... She'll thank you later. ;)

my wife didnt want me anywhere near when she took her course for whatever reason and i dont need it cause i already know everything and I like my bad habits

ninja 500 has a low saddle, and a thin seat, plenty of quick around town, and i've done 500 miles in a day on it with little to no pain. stock seat and bars.

I can't flatfoot on the FZ1 but i can with room to spare on the ex500. its a GREAT starting bike, and i've had mine since 2005.... the size alone makes everything else seem like you're on an aircraft carrier deck, but damn is it comvy.

I'm pretty excited about the Hawk. The guy wanted 1500.00 I offered 1100.00 based on what it needed. Its road worthy but will still get a once or twice over before she rides it. I've priced out what it needs on bay and it won't cost much. Will have some pictures up tomorrow.

I still want to work on some of the drills with her as well. Nice and slow until I get a better paying life insurance policy J/K!!!!!!! She has come a long way with the MSF course I highly recommend it for new riders. I really enjoyed taking it myself. Hopefully the insurance discount will offset the extra bike on the policy.

Awesome!!! Congrats on both counts! It is WAY TOO COOL to have a wife who rides. Just wait until SHE gets the modding bug.... lol!!!!! ;)

Well the Wife did her first day on the rode today. End result me turning some Ahole's side view mirror into a xmas ornament. We were riding in 25 mph zone and this guy is riding her rearer end like he was married to her, then pass her on a double yellow and squeezes his POS Audi in between us. I immediately slow down to 5 mph and refuse to let him pass. Show him how I think he is #1 then block the right hand turn lane at a red light, shut down the bike, get off and tell him I feel like a dance. I was so angry that I then forearmed his side view mirror.

I think this may be to stressful for me

The same thing sort of happened on Richie's first ride. Some idiot decided to go straight after sitting at a light in the left lane with his turn signal on. Luckily Richie saw him at the last minute on his left side and swerved right to avoid him. Me, I was behind Richie ready to speed around and catch up to the imbecil but I figured it would end up with me missing work the next day since I didn't have any cash in the house for bail money so I let it go. Those first three weeks he rode were definitely very stressful for me as you always want to protect your loved ones.

this is why i always ride with a crossbow on my back. nobody ever does this shit when a crossbow is involved.

You're scared for your wife but teaching her habits like confronting a guy in a 4000lb car will just elevate your stress and increase her risks out there.

Cooler heads prevail. When I get in situations like that (especially with new riders following me), I just pull over and let them go by; problem solved.
