I think I just did my 6th! I've done them all myself. I got this bike 6mo after I started riding and learned how to work on bikes on this one. After a 20 valver, almost everything else has been easier!Welcome, we're all sad FZ1OA is gone.......... we just need a few more good posters here.

Not every one. It did need adjustment for three of the checks. After I learned to be more precise and set them on the loose end of spec they didn't need adjustment. This last time I had two outside of the range, but on the loose side. I let them be and will adjust them next time if they get looser.Have you had to adjust the clearance on every check?

Welcome to the board, and ... That's a pretty good looking bee! I'm sure that one will shine up nicely, and it sounds like some basic maintenance and maybe a bit of carb cleaning and it will be rolling smoothly!Hey all! Always wanted an FZ1 and yesterday 12/5/24, my dream came true!! 2003 FZ1. Found it on FB Marketplace. Had to drive almost 3 hours south to pick her up! Towing Co. had it after picking it up when the owner was runnin from the cops! They did all the appropriate things to contact the owner, which he never contacted back, so they put it up for sale with all the proper lien paperwork to get the title. Took her for a spin when I got there & MAN! she's fast!! Brother owned a Yamaha shop in 1985-90. What a time for Yamaha! Got to ride all the basasss bikes when they 1st came out!!; FZ1000; Vmax (which I owned one for 9 years just sold it 2 years ago); Banshee; Fazer (loved them then & now I got 1!!) She's gonna need some work since she's been sitting a few months; hard to start; pops a bit & takes a while to run smooth; front brake is way too sensitive & the other owner added some really weird led lights that I'm gonna remove. Little dent in the tank & a few scratches but looks really good! Hoping to get some help from all you experts to get her in tip top shape!!
Thanks, BF! Really looking forward to getting her straight.Welcome to the board, and ... That's a pretty good looking bee! I'm sure that one will shine up nicely, and it sounds like some basic maintenance and maybe a bit of carb cleaning and it will be rolling smoothly!
I have a clymers paper copy that I liked better, but I do have a digital copy. I'm not sure where I got it. You could search for "repair manual download"... could be a good start! Thanks, BF! Really looking forward to getting her straight. Is there a manual anywhere on the forum I can download?
I saw the post that has the link for the service manual for $15 & bought that. Then I got another response that someone wanted an email address to send me their copy. Waiting on that one. What version is your digital copy? The one that looks like it’s from Yamaha? I’d be happy to see if that’s the one I bought if you wanna send it to me? [email protected] is my email. Thanks. I usually use Haynes manuals but they’re $52 online!! With the 1 I bought, the original owners manual and a couple responses from you guys, I should be covered!
