Alrighty! I have some new parts arriving by next week for the bike. I have a bunch of maintenance to do before the big trip.

I have on order:

Steering Stem Bearings Tapered Arrived
Yamaha OEM Fork Seals Arrived
Yamaha OEM Fork Bushings Arrived
Yamaha OEM Dust Caps Arrived
10WT Fork Oil Arrived
16T Yamaha Front Sprocket Arrived
45T Yamaha Steel Rear Sprocket Arrived
530 Gold X-Ring Chain Arrived
EBC HH Sintered Front Brake Pads (Full Set) Arrived
RAM GPS Mount For Nuvi 250W Arrived
Marine Grade 12V Power Recepticle w/ Positive Locking Waterproof Plug Arrived

I will probably pick up some aftermarket front brake lines before the trip as well. If I get up to Eric's when this stuff arrives, I will definitely do a "How To" video on the front forks. I'll let Eric change them and I will hold the camera and do the narration!:poke:

Nice!!! I have a tripod for the camera btw... lolup

I DO hope you can come up and we can get a lot of that, if not all of it, done right here and then go for the shakedown runs. :D Shouldn't be too hard at all!

I smell a BBQ coming!

Wow, nice Billy. I have to order similar stuff because I want to redo the forks on the YZF1000 before putting it all back together. Might as well do it now that I have it all apart.

Also my new Pro Grip gel grips and All Balls tapered roller bearing for the FZ1 have arrived. Now I just need to make another trip out to my friend Lou's house to change the bearings and powder coat the bars and tripple trees.

How do you like the grips?, and are you going to do the bearings yourself? You know anytime you need a hand just let me know. You know I'm a perfectionist like you so I could probably help you out.

Nice!!! Are you really doing both triples? That would be very nice looking! I want to do the same next winter. I want to strip the front and scavenge all sorts of parts for PC.

We need a good video/pictoral/How-To on the tapered bearings too.

You're really going to like the EBC HHs, they are a very nice street pad. I've got them on my 1125R and they totally transformed the brakes. Better initial bite, and better feel. Get the SS lines, they are icing on the cake. I'd recommend not getting Galfers, mine, and many others had the banjos rust. We sent them back to Galfer and they happily warrantied them with new lines that,....rusted.

Well I haven't installed the grips, but they feel way softer than the stock ones I have on there now. They look very similar to the ones you have, except they're all black. I am just going to cut the stock ones off when the time comes to take it all apart. Well since I removed my center stand I need a jack to lift my bike now so that I can remove the front end. I will probably just go over my friend Lou's house early one day and do everything over there since he has a motorcycle lift in his garage. I'll be powder coating the parts there anyway, but thanks for your offer to help. You might want to consider doing your steering stem bearings too. Here they are on eBay:

Well since I want to replace the steering head bearings with tapered roller ones everything has to come off anyway so I might as well powder coat it all. I will also be dropping the forks about 5mm when I put it all back together. I just picked up this tool to drive the races back into the steering head. Removing the old races is easily done with a long drift. The hardest part of the job is removing the stock bearing race from the lower tripple tree since it's pressed on there. I'll see what i can do about doing a how to for it. Not sure if I'll have time or not, but I'll give it a shot

I have never services forks. Any good vids anywhere on doing that?

Although it's a Harley, it's the same basic principle......

One of the better videos I have seen on the subject...this will be what I use as a reference when I do the seals on my YZF1000 forks.

I just got the SS HEL lines from Moto-heaven yesterday. They were supposed to be 6" OVER length so I can raise and widen my bars. They arrived stock length. I called Phil and he checked with his tech, agreed that they had missed the extra length on my order and got me a new set made and out yesterday afternoon that I should have Monday or Tuesday. He is also sending me an envelope to use to return the stock lines. I'm getting a free SS rear line out of the deal. I don't find that kind of service very often so I thought I should give Phil and Moto-Heaven some credit.

Thanks for the feedback Roy! Between your comments and Pete's, I'm convinced! :D SS from Moto-heaven it is!

is nuvi 250w water proof or just the regular GPS for cagers..

Just a non-waterproof for cagers. Garmin makes two motorcycle models that are waterproof. The Zumo 550 and the Zumo 660. TomTom Rider and TomTom Rider 2 are also waterproofed for motorcycles. :D

The parts are starting to dribble in. I got my new EBC's today, as well as the replacement BikeVis light for the faulty one. The best part is that the weekend is gonna be absolutely fabulous here in the Northeast! I'll be "stopping" with the best of them now!
