This was the bike pretty much as I had obtained it.....less the 15/47 520 conversion and the MIVV GP shorty Titanium exhaust and Gilles Titanium rearsets

wish I would have kept the lower fairing -- meleted or not, hard to come by....

I then found a smokin' deal on a skunk tank/tail, found some grab bars to match, and was looking to head in this direction. (you are looking at the better side of the beast....)

By this time, I had upgraded the brakelines (Fren Tubo from pjsparts.com), obtained a new seat, swapped out the brake pads (brembo sintered street), Obtained a new upper fairing b/c the the blue one had a large crack), Surburban Machinery handlebars, lower GYTR riser, rizoma grips/barends,

and it was just a matter of getting the tank repaired/repainted, tail (repainted) and upper fairing to match..

I'm getting there but the bike is not here for me to snap the next phase. So I'll hold this spot until I'm able to do so.

They got mounted and on the maiden voyage, some one was kind enough to steal the round discs the secure the lower to the frame.

Gracious offer from the other forum to send to me a set to take to a machinist or they take and have a set fabbed locally and send me those.

Now, I've been toying with trying to come up with a unique look for the FZ and after seeing a post from the other forum, it got me thinking. I just have to come up with the right scheme.

Going all black was not to my liking (not to mention that it absorbed the NM sun and made it even hotter) Methinks that I'll follow Billy's advice and go more with the silver with black accents for the lowers and find someway to incorporate the black accent into the rest of the bike....

Paint the frame.....the forks.....and the swing arm black -- touch up some of the previous attempts and call this puppy done.....

That looks sweet Adam. It sounds like a plan to me! I was thinking that you may as well forget about the disks for the fairing and go get yourself some stainless oversized fender washers with a couple of stainless cap screws. It should be able to mount the fairings just fine. Paint the washers the same color as the fairing and be done with it. It would work just as well as the discs. If you need the correct screw size, I can take mine to work tomorrow and get the gauge out and get you the correct size and length. You would just have to go with shorter screws. Let me know.

The slider option is the way I'm presently going, but if you have something in mind -- I'd be more than happy to entertain the idea b/c to machine new parts appears to be :tdown: Cost prohibitive....

snap some pictures of what you are thinking of...

NO, the above was p/u for 375+shipping.....I could not even get a local guy to look at it for less than 900.00. But some renewed connections....and I'll get the the final touches done (black accents), Carbon clearcoated, for another 250.00 and will be Good To Go!

Okay Adam, As soon as I got to work this morning I immediately went to work..........on your problem of course! Haha. Screw the paying customers! This is more important. Okay, this should work out perfect. You will need:

2x Metric Flange Hex Bolts 8mm x 1.25 pitch 16mm length
2x Zinc or Stainless 3/8 x 2" fender washers (Zinc is fine if painting)

I have a set in hand which I'll bring home to take a snapshot of how it would look. Screw the discs, you won't need them again. If sprayed the same as the fairing, you won't even notice this setup. I'll post the pics this evening. I'm taking a set home for me as well. You never know when you'll need them. My neighborhood is ten times worse than yours.
 
I was also thinking that you can take an old inner tube and cut out an exact copy of the fender washer. Then place it between the fairing and the washer so as to not scratch the fairing. It will also hold the washer in place nicely.
 
I know that the pictures are around somewhere.....but the title does say a "pictorial documentary"....

A side by side comparison while being painted.
Lt caliper with before/after -- Fren Tubo Lines from pjsparts.com. Duplicolor caliper paint (aerosol) and the red poking through on the after rare the Brembo Sintered street pads (thanks for the recommendation Aaron aka va_rider)

****I will note that if you should paint the calipers to be sure to mask off the area that are going to be in contact with other points on the bike (mainly the mounts). If not, and you should happen to remove the calipers, one might might get a crack in the finish and more might come off than you would hope causing you to touch up.

Crappy comparison of before and after....BUT -- I love the position of the new handlebars, it just took a bit to get things situated to not hit the speedo cluster when going from full lock (right to left) to eliminate the contact from the levers.

1st phase of getting the radiator to look new again....just a painted grille

Does anyone have a recomendation on what can be done to the actual radiator? I afraid if I paint it, then I would mess up the cooling capability...or if I just dust it, would I be ok??
