It was extremely strange going from my fz1 to the sv650. Wasn't a horrible bike but boy am I glad I purchased my fz1 lol. No offense Dustin haha. Might get the chance to hop on one of those ancient lumps they call a Harley next weekend that should be interesting lol.

Hahaha, no offense taken! The FZ1 is a superior bike in most ways, especially off the showroom floor. The SV is not a high end bike by any means but I love it's character, the way it fits me and I like the engine.

You should ride mine when I'm in your neck of the woods as it's been sorted out a bit. Suspension mods make a world of difference on the SV

I'd love to hear more feedback. What model & year did you ride? Pros and cons?

:)

Its power delivery was extremely smooth yet it lacked in the hp department. It felt awkward with the clipons but I haven't been on any other bike exept the fz which is my daily driver.

Yeah you can really notice the missing 70hp after getting off an FZ1. :) It's got nice torque all the time, though. Even off idle it's not bad.

I don't much like the S model myself and my naked fits much like the gen 2 FZ1

I would love to pick one of those up for my girlfriend. She is currently using a Ninja 500 and the SV650 looks like a perfect upgrade from that point. Plus they can be had at a fair price.

Great bikes.

I used to want an SV1000 so freaking bad. I still would not mind having one a s a second bike. I prefer bikes that are a tad bigger physically which is why I will never go back to SS. Even the 1000 Super Sports are the size of a tiny 600.

Hahaa, I know what you are talking about. I do miss the sv on the street with the torque at stop lights. But the freeway is much better.

I also left the fz1 lights on last night and the battery was dead this morning. I live on a small hill so its not that big of deal. Well I put it in 2nd and was expecting the shuddering that the sv does when jump starting. NOPE! Its just purred awake, no jerkeyness.

before purchasing my 2004 Fz1 I almost bought SV1000 I even put a $100 deposit but after I rode the FZ I was happy to loose the $100, too much vibration, riding position & clipons are just not for me or my riding.
